Communities of Practice, within our society this term of art means the experiential sharing-by-intention of a vocation (feeds the body) or avocation (feeds the spirit) via disciplined study and practice.
A CoP can evolve naturally, organically from its members’ common interest, or it can be born of intention, a sharing of experience in discovery learning, of understanding, exploiting an opportunity to develop personally and professionally.
Our combination of role-play modeling scripted and improvisation, privately or as street-theater are characterized by sophisticated narratives informed by in-depth historical research, nuanced analysis of psychosocial dynamics and environmental context.
Our play is enabled by the seamless integration of signaling and communications aids, verbal and non-verbal to coordinate our acting for best effect. Most of us are familiar with the work of modern magicians, those whose skills run the gauntlet from prestidigitation or sleight of hand to masterful practical effects born of preternaturally deep understanding and exploitation of human physiology, neuroendocrine psychology, and cutting-edge chemical, material, electronic, mechanical sciences.
This is not the commercial coercion for profit fatalistically accepted as normal, business as usual, but instead is a matter of informed consent by our patrons, part in parcel of a system for intentionally disrupting the participant’s mundane ‘set in settings’, and serve as an invocation to transformative understanding.
These exercises in experimental living serve as inclusive tools and instruments of exploratory research, experiences designed to revealing greater insight beyond the limits of our best virtual models. From secured internal studies to high-priority public forums of engagement, meant as educational precursors to the eventual acceptance of new policy, protocol, and practice.
For example, the Fleet Réalta initial mission is to offer an innovative new mode of power management and distribution that extends and future-proofs our California Smart Grids and a corresponding new category of transportation intended as its complement.
Then there is also the Fleet Réalta adaptive localization of TDM, a platform from Mobility Lab a program of Arlington County, Virginia. TDM or Transportation Demand Management is an emergent, open standard for people who struggle to make ends meet despite having stable employment, healthcare, and housing means of reducing costs through effective tools for planning and real-time access to multimodal transportation and shipping, something long enjoyed exclusively by wealthy corporations.
